ICES - Inner Coma Environment Simulator

The main goal of the Rosetta Working Group X is to provide the ROSETTA project and its other working groups with models and model results for the cometary environment. The group response to requests from the project and other working groups in deciding which parameters to use and which cases to model.

The results of the various models are made available via the ICES tools.

August 7, 2014: 64.5 miles (104km) Away

Comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko on August 7, 2014 at a distance of 104 kilometers / 64.5 miles by the Rosetta Mission OSIRIS NAC Camera. Looking from the larger lobe, over the ‘neck’, to the smaller lobe. These are a pair of images taken 17 minutes apart to form a stereo pair for a 3D image, part of the investigation in the search for a landing site for the Philae lander.
